Sig Mark 25 - As a writer, I do everything I can to test and review every weapon that passes through, with long tests. Many commercial guns are new and unproven, even when they are based on handgun designs. All revisions and new descriptions must be reviewed. Every now and then I come across a weapon that is more proven than the others. And then there are the legends. As for the legends, there is little I can do to add or lose the name of the weapon with my own test system. This is the case with the Sig Sauer P226 MK 25 or Navi model.

This gun has been in all the hot spots on earth with our sailors and Navy Seals. For many of us, this is the bottom line: the operator. While weapon mechanics are fascinating and worthy of one's study, the people who use the weapons are most interesting. As such, this is a gun that many people keep close at hand. The type is used in many operations, with the operation being among the most important and successful terrorist operations of all time.

Let's go back a few years and look at the decision to adopt a SIG 9mm pistol over the Beretta 92 for Navy use (unless Beretta won the M9 deal). The SIG P226 is a high-powered variant of the original SIG P220 9mm pistol. While military pistols, such as the Colt 1911, are sometimes accepted by civilians and police officers, in this case, a specially designed police pistol becomes a military pistol. Without going into detail and editing a can of worms, it appears that in the original competition the Navy chose a gun with little thought for ergonomics.

The Navy believes that the SIG has superior ergonomics and, in light of some errors during M9 testing, the SIG is the superior gun. Both guns get excellent ratings and are very reliable. Beretta received a contract based on a small offer for a contract that included guns and accessories. The Navy disagreed and bought the SIG anyway. It's a simple view of a complicated test, but the Navy made a good choice. Although the SIG was not adopted by the US military, the P226 pistol provided thousands of law enforcement sales.

In the age of military gun justice, many police agencies have switched to self-loading guns. Some thought that SIG was an ideal fit. The SIG P220 9mm pistol is a product of West German pistol efforts. Designed with human engineering, reliability and accuracy above all else, the SIG P Series are brilliant pistols. The SIG P220 has a smooth double action trigger. After the first pull of the two-action trigger, the gun fires and the slide moves the hammer for a single-shot round. No hand safety.

A dual function trigger is a safety feature. A simple cocking mechanism mounted on the frame allows you to easily release the gun, safely dropping the hammer to the ready position from the full cock. Experienced users consider the SIG de-cocker the superior system among service guns.

The original P220 was chambered in 9mm Luger. SIG then offered the .45 ACP for the US market, and the high-powered SIG P226 9mm was also very popular. The Michigan State Police was among the first US agencies to receive the SIG P226. It is still a stylish and reliable gun and was a new design when it was first introduced. The gun has a double trigger with the smoothest compression of any gun in its class. Compared to the external pull rod of the Beretta 92, the SIG P226 has an internal pull rod that connects the trigger to the hammer.

The original design featured an innovative lock that was widely adopted by the company. The lock uses a barrel hood to lock into the slide. There are no locking lugs. The levels that press the gear close and open during the reverse cycle. The decocker mounted frame is much easier to manipulate than the slide mounted decocker/safety of the Beretta 92. Many advertise the SIG pistol to have a manual safety but safety features. Among them is a positive firing pin block that holds the firing pin in place until you press the trigger all the way back.

Once SIG introduced the pin block rifle, all competitors followed suit, incorporating the proper pin block or safety drop into their designs; otherwise, they eliminate the opportunity for selling a structure. The scenes are from the original, but are always the best fight scenes. The rifle has a quality aluminum alloy frame and the modern SIG P226 has a stainless steel slide.

SIG offers plastic handles in a number of different configurations and edges. The serial production of the SIG P226 pistol showed minor differences regarding the control strip and the controls. SIG guns were originally made in West Germany, but today they are made in Exeter, N.H.

The SIG P series has earned a reputation as the most reliable pistol in the world. Although this is a bold statement, the evidence and history speak for themselves. As an example, the Ohio State Patrol (OSP) selected the SIG P226 as its service rifle after 228,000 rounds of rigorous testing of more than a dozen different rifles. As a side note, SIG replaced the previous Beretta pistol in service with the OSP.

The interesting thing about the OSP test is that they use a modified version. Often when a design changes significantly from the original specifications, reliability suffers. The SIG that won first place in the OSP test was only a two-step difference in the .40 range. Although it is chambered for a high pressure/high rotation cartridge and the action is a significant modification of the original, the gun was the most reliable they tested. All in all, it was another impressive show.

Illustrated pistol is a recently produced MK 25. A later model production sign is the design of the Extractor. The new design is easy to install and replace, and while the original is more functional, the new design is an improvement. The first production used metal slides and original fan design; The new pistols have a black finished stainless slide and a traditional design. SIG's advantage over most aluminum pistols is that the frame is treated with Nitron.

A common finish for pistols made of aluminum is anodizing, which usually wears off with use, leaving areas of aluminum visible. The nitron finish is a bit more durable. The picatinny rail is the most obvious design feature of the MK 25, compared to the original P226 pistol. During the test program, I used the Fire Insight with good results. Night vision is the best design and has a good, sharp image. Face painting is designed for protection. The trigger action is smooth, breaking at 12 pounds in two actions. The single-action trigger press is crisp and weighs in at 4.25 pounds.

The principle is different from most double action pistols. It is always controlled with the P226 function. The reset is not as fast as the competition gun, but the performance is excellent for a service gun. If you want, you can set SIG Short Repeat Trigger (SRT). The MK 25 comes in a lockable plastic case, with a total of three magazines, at least of course with one in the gun, one on the belt, and one resting.

Before testing the range, I oiled the gun and loaded the frames as desired to maintain reliability in the high capacity magazines. I filled the magazine with three rounds and pressed the base of the magazine against the heel of the shoe to make sure the rounds were seated. I collected the magazine in this way until there were fifteen times in each magazine. I gave the magazine a last try to seat all the cartridges safely. This method ensures good food reliability.

I tested my first fire with 124 grain Winchester ammo. The "white box" loading is accurate enough for meaningful and reliable practice. For the first test, I ran quick presentations from ready-made cases. The gun feels good in the hand, and the combination of good sights and smooth trigger makes for good hits. The retreating force is straight back.

A gun of this size is very tactical with the 9mm cartridge. Rapid fire was sure and regular. As the sight hit the target and the trigger was pressed, I had a stroke. For those who practice, the SIG P226 is a pistol that responds well to proper technique. It is not a problem to put every round from the magazine into the center of the human target at 25 yards. During the first evaluation of the new gun in the box, there were no errors in the chamber or fire escape.

About 20 years ago, a company I worked with brought out a SIG P226 rifle. Although I later qualified and carried a SIG P220, I gained a great deal of respect for the P226 rifle. That was my introduction to the SIG P series, a positive experience. The M25 variant is more accurate than the P226 that I carry on duty. The added weight of the light rail seems to soften the recoil to some extent. After the first test with the training weapon, I shot with the service weapon.

Adequate wound power for the 9mm requires a wider bullet. The projectile should penetrate at least 12 inches into the ballistic medium and expand to 1.5 inches of its original diameter. You need +P or even +P+ loading. Among the loads that enjoy a good reputation in service is the 127-grain Winchester
